Task 1

Study Implications

The purpose of research is to inform action.  Thus, your study should seek to contextualize its findings within the larger body of research.  Research must always be high quality in order to produce knowledge that is applicable outside of the research setting with implications that go beyond the group that has participated in the research.  Furthermore, the results of your study should have implications for policy and project implementation.
One problem that often plagues progress in global health is the slow translation of research into practice. Oftentimes, a disconnect exists between those who create the evidence base and those who are positioned to implement the research findings. The underlying problem is in “the way in which the production of evidence is organized institutionally with highly centralized mechanisms, whereas the application of that science is highly decentralized.  This social distance prevails because scientists are more oriented to the international audiences of other scientists for which they publish than to the needs of practitioners, policy makers, or the local public.”(1)
Thus, as researchers, it is imperative to take steps to overcome this barrier.  Publishing your study may be one initial step to make your research known to the global community.  Other proactive measures can be taken to encourage the uptake of evidence-based interventions.  For example, you can present your research findings at various venues such as the Unite for Sight sponsored Global Health and Innovation Conference.  Furthermore, you can send the results of your study to local officials, policy-makers, and community leaders.

Goals of Research

There are relatively few published studies about eye care in developing countries, and Unite For Sight encourages all volunteers to consider developing a research study to contribute important knowledge to the eye care community on a global scale. Pursuing a research project will be a challenging and rewarding experience, and this opportunity enables you to pursue an in-depth original study about a topic of interest.
Well-conducted research is vital to the success of global heath endeavors.  Not only does research form the foundation of program development and policies all over the world, but it can also be translated into effective global health programs.  Research draws its power from the fact that it is empirical: rather than merely theorizing about what might be effective or what could work, researchers go out into the field and design studies that give policymakers hard data on which they can base their decisions.  Furthermore, good research produces results that are examinable by peers, methodologies that can be replicated, and knowledge that can be applied to real-world situations.  Researchers work as a team to enhance our knowledge of how to best address the world’s problems.

Task 2

Relationships between teachers and students have different types, ranging from complete hatred for each other to relationships that are even better than family. There are many variables that cause the different endings in these relationships such as favouritism, bootlicking, punctuality in homework ect.
These relationships may also lead to inducing disgust in friends so many teacher student relationships are not very friendly or for some unknown. As students i think we should listen to the teacher and do what they say no matter what our relationship is like as it is a form my respect.

Nyi Nyi

SST is a good environment for learning to take place, but are the students well behaved? Most people sees SST’s students as well-behaved. But there are some who do not come to school on time, do not hand in homework and attitude towards the school is not very up to expectations. These students may have their own reason and problems they may be facing but I have noticed that most students who do not sleep well, often have mood swings and change of behavior, mostly negative. They may not come to school on time because they are often tired due to lack of sleep. Not handing up assignments on time is often because they may not have time as some students maybe stressed and set different priorities. There are also students who behaved well and has good attitude, most of them sleeps well and set their priorities right.

Relationships between students of all levels. We have to be as bonded together as a school so that we will be closer to each other. Although, sometimes, this is not the case. I've seen many times seniors looking down upon juniors and juniors being rude to their own seniors. We are such a small school and yet this things can happen. With the small number of students in this school, it should be the opposite where we are all close together, but many times, that is not the case. We have to be bonded together more strongly and be able to work together as a school.

Task 3

Draft Reports

An investigation of relationship between SST students by Team Delta
This research is related to the negative relationship (looking down on others, leaving them out on group activities ect.) It aims to reduce negative relationships between schoolmates.
This research will study groups of students from different levels on how they feel about their schoolmates and why they feel that way.
Our research is important as it relates to some of our schoolmates and it may help improve the bond between our school. It will bring the students together and will make them work together more easily. This research can be done fairly easily as we can ask the students around the school toby asking  complete our research. Firstly, we will gather the information we need by conducting surveys or even interviews. We will then collate it and look at it as a whole. We'll form a chart or table to analyse the data in order and we'll make powerpoint slides to present the data

This research aims to find out how students behave differently with or without enough sleep. This project is practical as most people in SST suffer from lack of sleep because of different reasons, because of the lack of sleep, SST students are behaving differently compared to them being energised at the start of the day. This project is manageable as we can easily interview or survey the students who have this problem, we could also observe the students who we think are suffering from this problem. There has been past research done by other people on the effect of lack of sleep by others. There are some credible websites on the internet that has done research on this topic which are also approved by the public. As said on the wikipedia page on sleep, “Sleep debt is the effect of not getting enough sleep; a large debt causes mental, emotional and physical fatigue.” Do you think you are one of them who suffer from sleep debt? If you are, we plan to help you by advising you to manage your time wisely so as to have enough rest after your daily activities. This will help you concentrate better in class as you will not be so tired and in turn improve your grades significantly.
